Greetings All,

I am considering upgrading from my 3 year old 790 to some thing a bit heavier with more ponies. I feel I am pushing the 790. I have been moving rocks/Landscaping and a more powerful tractor/loader combo would be helpful. I am looking at some rough Bush Hogging and pulling some lumber around. Trade up or sell and buy ?... Maybe a 3520 with Power reverser or a 990. I have 11.5 acres woods and lawn with 3/4 mile gravel road and 5 acres to mow . Mom has built next door and Landscaping chores are coming up. Any and all thouhts/suggestions welcome.
Thanks
Tracer

I purchased a 990 in 2003 i have put 180 hours on it it has handled everthing i've thrown at it.Digging stumps, Rocks,Pulled trees, Can't say enough good about it.The only draw back is manual shifting for loader work but that is minor at best ....

The manual shifting does not bother me. Does the 990 weigh a bit more than the 790? also is the loader lift capacity a bit or a bunch more than the 790?

The 990 weighs around 3400, with the loader and backhoe it tips the scale around 5600 lbs As for the loader you'll have to check the specs as i have a 430 which is outdated now, but I have put Some loads in it that i know exceed what they say it will pick up. (Bucket Shows it) I don't baby my tractor It works for a living. I bought mine to build my house with So far, septic system, driveway, Lot clearing have all been done. Next is foundation

Sounds good. I will definitely look around for one . Or something similar. Fianances are of course a consideration. I will keep you all posted if I can make the case to the CFO. The Backhoe would be a most welcome piece. Nothing Like Hydraulics to make a big job small.
I too work my 790 hard I just do not want to overwork it.I really feel that at times I am pushing the envelope. ....

Greetings BenEAmonette

There are 165 hours on it. Shed kept. Fanatic about oil, tranny fluid and filters. Busted right front light cover from branch. Some dings on bucket but overall excellent. King Kutter finish mower and rear blade. Why? You wanna buy it?

Greetings again,

I would want enough to buy another one. The more I think about it the 790 is just what I need and if I sold it I would be taking the initial depreciation for nothing. This tractor has been trouble free and is now properly broke in so if anything I would just put a backhoe on it.
Dont get me wrong. If you want to gve me 13.5 its sold but that just would not be right.
My advice is go get a new one from your local dealer with a good warranty and you too will want to keep yours for thirty years. Deere has been around for long time and is not going anywhere. The 790 is a long term no frills piece of equipment. A lot of steel, no bells and whistles to maintain. Its just a good tractor. nuff said. ....
